Indemnia

Privacy policy

Last updated July 2026

Indemnia helps you document your personal property and prepare insurance loss reports. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We've tried to keep it in plain language.

What we collect

  • Account information — your name and email address, so you can sign in and we can reach you.
  • Inventory content — the items, photos, values, and notes you add to your household.
  • Receipts from connected email — when you connect a mailbox, we look for purchase receipts and store the ones we find, plus limited metadata about the messages we scan.
  • Usage information — basic, privacy-friendly analytics about how the site is used, to improve it.

Connected email — read-only

If you connect an email account, Indemnia requests read-onlyaccess and uses it solely to find purchase receipts. We can't send, change, or delete anything in your mailbox. You can disconnect an account at any time, which stops all future access.

How we use your data

  • To build and maintain your household inventory and generate loss reports.
  • To detect and extract receipts from connected email and turn them into item suggestions you confirm.
  • To operate, secure, and improve the service, and to contact you about your account.

How your data is shared

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run Indemnia, under contract and only as needed:

  • Supabase — our database, authentication, and file storage.
  • Anthropic (Claude) — AI processing to identify items in photos and extract receipt details. Content sent for processing is not used to train models.
  • Email and delivery providers — to receive receipts you connect (e.g. Gmail) and to send transactional email (e.g. account and invitation messages).

Retention

We keep your account and inventory data for as long as your account is active. Stored email documents are retained only as long as needed to extract and verify receipts, then removed on a rolling window. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your data, except where we're required to keep it.

Security

Access to your household's data is restricted by row-level security so only your household can read it. Connected-email credentials are stored encrypted and used only by our background workers. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data.

Your choices

  • Access or correct your information from within the app.
  • Disconnect any connected email account at any time.
  • Delete your account and data by contacting us.

Children

Indemnia is not directed to anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
